Professor Serkan Saydam received his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Mining Engineering from the Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey and completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Serkan joined the School of Mining Engineering as a Senior Lecturer in 2006 and was recently promoted to Associate Professor. He currently holds two ARC Linkage Projects and one ACARP research grants worth of over $4 million on Ground Control area. In addition, he has recently sucessfully established a research collaboration with NASA's JPL. His fields of research include mine planning & design, new mining methods and ground control.
