Funding Success: 2 x High Altitude Balloon projects
3 May 2017
We are pleased to announce that ACSER has successfully been awarded two grants with the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering Priming Grants scheme:
1. Launching rockets from balloons (Andrew Dempster $7k, collaboration with Gilmour Space Technologies, Singapore): This project investigates the feasibility of launching rockets from high altitude balloons as a cheaper and safer alternative to standard launch methods.
2. Low-cost Rapidly Deployable High Altitude Balloon-borne Radar (Elias Aboutanios $7k, collaboration with ECHOES Technologies of Italy): This project aims to develop a high altitude balloon-borne radar (HAP-Radar) as a low cost, rapidly deployable and more flexible alternative to traditional remote sensing systems.
